چکیده

Forests are dynamic ecosystems that constantly changing. The most common natural reasons for change in forests the growth and death of trees, as well damage occurring to them. Tree appears an increment its structural dimensions, such stem diameter, height, crown volume, which all affect structure a tree. Repeated measurements tree characteristics enable observations respective increments indicating growth. According current knowledge, process follows priority theory, where trees aim achieve sufficient lightning conditions through primary growth, whereas diameter results from secondary is known have effect on carbon sequestration potential quality timber. To improve understanding underlying cause–effect relations driving methods quantify changes needed. use terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) has emerged during recent decade effective tool determine attributes individual trees. However, capacity TLS point cloud-based measure remains unexplored. This thesis aimed at developing new boreal forest by utilizing two-date clouds. clouds were also used investigate how allocate their form develops, deepen processes under different over life cycle capability developed was examined five- nine-year monitoring period with two separate datasets consisting 1315 total. Describing Forest Stands Using Terrestrial Laser-scanning

A method for extracting forest parameters is described in this paper. The 3D point clouds derived from phase difference laser scanners in forests were processed in a step-wise separation. The first step contains basic filter methods to reduce raw data which, separates isolated points or deletes those artefacts resulting from the ambiguity problem. The next step includes using algorithms to isol...

Multi-temporal terrestrial laser scanning for modeling tree biomass change

Above ground biomass (AGB) is a crucial ecological variable and has to be accurately estimated to understand potential changes of the climate system and to reduce uncertainties in the estimates of forest carbon budget. The overall goal of this research is to estimate tree level AGB change using multi-temporal terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) datasets for trees in East Texas. Specific objectives...

Tree Height Growth Measurement with Single-Scan Airborne, Static Terrestrial and Mobile Laser Scanning

This study explores the feasibility of applying single-scan airborne, static terrestrial and mobile laser scanning for improving the accuracy of tree height growth measurement. Specifically, compared to the traditional works on forest growth inventory with airborne laser scanning, two issues are regarded: "Can the new technique characterize the height growth for each individual tree?" and "Can ...

Evaluation of Terrestrial Laser Scanning for Rice Growth Monitoring

The rapidly growing world population and the resulting pressure on the efficiency of agriculture require a sustainable development of intensive field management with regard to natural resources. In this context, the use of non-destructive remote sensing technologies to monitor status and change detection of plant growth is in the focus of research and application. In this contribution, we evalu...

Automatic Plot-wise Tree Location Mapping Using Single-scan Terrestrial Laser Scanning

The application of terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) has received increasing attention in the quantitative forest inventories. Both single-scan and multi-scan TLS can be employed for the forest parameter retrieval. The multi-scan mode captures an ideal data set, which in general provides whole tree coverage and leads to accurate tree trunk detection and modelling. The single-scan data is, howeve...
